Waves Sign Austin Gillum, Cut VanHoof

The West Coast Waves have essentially swapped out one of their rookie prospects for what they see as a more valuable one.

Asher VanHoof was set to play the field and bat for the Waves, but has been released by the team. Simultaneously, rookie Austin Gillum was been signed.

Team owner/player Anthony Nusbaum was going to be the ace pitcher, but now says Gillum will take on the role. Nusbaum will pitch backup if necessary. Gillum has also been placed in the batting lineup for the Waves.

As you can see in the image below, Gillum has baseball experience at the high school level. He is 19 years old.
