After Ace Pitcher Michael Sullivan declined to sign an extension with the Cobras ealier this offseason the team rightfully grew worried about its future success if he were to leave after JAL 15.
As a result the Cobras believe they have landed a rookie pitcher who could fill that potential void, but also who will significantly help the team this upcoming season.
Connor "Corndog" Vermilyea, a recent Toledo HS grad, has signed a max rookie contract with the team. Last spring Vermilyea pitched on the the Toledo baseball team, which won a state title. On it, Vermilyea threw 111 innings and had an impressive ERA of 1.16.
In JAL 15 Vermilyea is set to be the #2 arm behind Sullivan and he will bat the lineup. Given that Sullivan likes to rest his arm as much as possible it is inevitable that Vermilyea will get a good amount of innings in his rookie season.
