OUTSTANDING MANAGER

Top candidates...

Brian Whitten (Bambinos majority owner): Replaced loss of Gage Metzger by signing rookie Trey Hartley who is an All-Star nominee batter and fielder in his first career season. Team finished 6-2 and are headed to playoffs as the AC 1-seed (same as last season despite roster subtraction/addition).

Brock Johnson (underdogs GM): Chose to move on from an un-reliable Evan Bates as team's centerpiece during offseason and signed rookie players Blake Larwick, Tucker Amrine, Owen Erickson and Anders Dahl. Helped develop Blake Larwick into a All-Star nominee pitcher. He managed the team during games. Team finished with the same 5-3 record as last season, despite all the roster changes, but are missing the playoffs this year.

Cameron Morton (Wrecking Crew owner): Signed free agent McKinnley Franklin and acquired Alan Luff via cash trade, both during the offseason.

Gage Metzger (Bison GM): Signed rookie players Krister Embree, Joey Hayes and Landen Patterson. Helped develop Joey Hayes into a pitcher. During games he managed the team. Team finished 6-2 (last season 2-6) and are headed to playoffs as the NC 1-seed.

Trevor Goforth (Bison owner): Recruited free agent Gage Metzger to leave Bambinos and join Bison as both a player and General Manager. In first year as new owner of the Bison franchise they finished 6-2 (last season 2-6) and are headed to playoffs as the NC 1-seed.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER

Top candidates...

AJ Moore: A seasoned veteran, Moore has been playing in the league since JAL 18. In his rookie season Moore hit .267, but had never been able to beat that mark until breaking out in JAL 24 with a .359 average.

Brodey Lamb: Brodey was signed as a rookie towards the end of last season. He only got 1 pitching opportunity and was hardly utilized in the Waves batting lineup (just 18 plate appearances). This season he stepped into the team's ace pitching role and — although his production was underwhelming most of the season — caught fire in the team's last two games, allowing just 9 combined runs (6 vs Fog, 3 vs underdogs). Brodey also played a significant role in the Waves batting lineup, hitting .250 (11 hits) with 42 RBI and in the field with 8 FO+S, no errors and 73% FP.

Mateo Vodjansky: JAL 24 was Mateo's 5th career season, but first time producing numbers that grabbed people's attention. Though he only played in 4/8 of the Express' games, Mateo swung a .577 average — his career high prior to this was a mere .258. Mateo was also given a chance to pitch for the first time this season, appearing in two games (3 total innings) and posting a solid 13.33 ERA with no hits allowed.

OUTSTANDING COMEBBACK

Top candidates...

Cale Johnson: The Commissioner is one of the most decorated players in league history, but nearly all of his career accolades came way back when the league was young. Cale has not been an All-Star, or even been much of a candidate since JAL 15, hitting .235 or lower each season. In JAL 23 he hit .167 and strongly considered removing himself from the lineup during the offseason, but then swung .266 (17 hits) with 3 HR and 72 RBI in JAL 24.

Ethan Erickson: Widely regarded as the best fielder in JAL history with his 4 Fielding Crowns, Ethan Erickson's stints with the Lynx (JAL 22) and Cobras (JAL 23) were two underwhelming and under-appreciated years that nearly resulted in his career ending. During much of the JAL 24 offseason, Erickson was unsigned and not expecting to get picked up, until the Sasquatches called with an offer to return to his former team (JAL 17-21). In JAL 24 Erickson smashed the single season FO+S record with 48 (was 38), stops record with 40 (was 30) and set new single-game FO+S (14) and stops (13) records.

Trevor Goforth: Trevor earned the title Greatest JAL Player of All-Time by the end of his 5-season career from JAL 17-21. After JAL 23, Goforth applied for and was given ownership of the Bison franchise. In his first season as a team manager, Trevor revitalized the franchise with new branding and uniforms, then plucked Gage Metzger from the Bambinos to become his GM and star player. The result has been a 6-2 ball club (1st in NC) hoping to make a deep run in the upcoming playoffs.
