For the last several weeks Cowlitz's management has been in talks with a rookie player that they've expressed a lot of excitement about. All that time they've kept it very low profile, not even revealing the potential players name.
Today though, the Bambinos closed the deal and it is Kaden Vanderweft - A incoming HS junior from R.A. Long.
Vanderwerft was named a 1st team all-league baseball player last spring as just a sophomore.
"Kaden is an overall great player," says co-owner Brian Whitten who has seen him play live before and believes he could become an MVP in the JAL. "Good hitting and flithy pitching. He will be a key addition fr the Bambinos to repeat as champions."
Up until today fellow rookie on the team Colton Titus has been pinned as the ace pitcher, but Brian says now with Vanderwerf the team will operate under a duel-ace system with them splitting time.
Cowlitz opens JAL 14 vs the Washougal Wrecking Crew. It is undetermined which of the two players will throw the first pitch.
