Free agent Nick Proudfit has played 3 career seasons in the league, all with three different teams (Rapids, Lynx, Fog). He's a "journeyman" in the league, but that doesn't mean he isn't a good player. In fact, through his career he has been steadily improving each season. Last season he won the league's Fielding Crown and just recently was even named to the new Top 20 Players List (#19).
So why is Proudfit still a free agent..... why hasn't anyone tried to sign him yet this offseason? That's a great question. He's defiantly not a "great" player, but he's defiantly a "grinder." Despite having a whole lot of pure talent and skill, he constantly finds a way to be effective. There's a lot of teams out there that could really use having him on the roster. Here's a look at 5.
underdogs
Ubbelohde Hill could use Proudfit as a backup pitcher to regularly bring in when Trisha Martell is struggling, and they could start him in the field. Proudfit would also add to the underdogs quietly dangerous batting lineup.
Sasquatches
Unlike the Lawmen, this new franchise to the league still has room on their roster to add players, and being that everyone on the Sasquatches right now is a rookie, Proudfit would be a nice veteran pickup. You never know what you're going to get with rookies, but you always know what you're going to get with Proudfit.... Solid play.
Bison
Erik Titus does it all for the Bison. Taking a little of the burden off him on the offensive end could be highly beneficial. Proudfit would be their second best batter.
Cobras
The Cobras already have Shawn Godinho and Bryce DesArmo playing the field and hitting for them, but neither one of them had great seasons in JAL 15. In fact, lots of people seems to think those two have been steadily declining over the last 2-3 seasons. Don't put it past San Francisco's owner Drew Delucchi to try pulling a "replacement" move with Proudfit and one of them.
Storm
Right now, the Storm could simply use any players...
