Next Season: Stats Will Exist, Every Game Aired On Internet


Next season the JAL will have a new set of CBA rules containing such things as "stock money" and no salary cap (Click here to see the incoming new CBA) that are anticipated to take the league to new heights. JAL officials aren't stopping there though! ....Next season stats will be taken for the 1st time ever — and every single game will be watchable online.

Stats

Below is a look at the official stats the JAL is planning to start recording next season (JAL 17) and on...

Batting

- At-Bat (AB): Player completes an at-bat

- On Base Percentage (OBP): Number of times a player reaches base divided by their number of at-bats

- Hit (H): Player reaches base by getting a hit. Hits do not count if an error is committed

- Batting Average (BA): Number of hits a player gets divided by their number of [at-bats minus walks]

- Home Run (HR): Player hits a home run

- Single, Double, Triple (1,2,3): Players hits a single, double or triple

- Strikeout (K): Pitch hits strike zone, batter swings and misses, or batter hits a foul ball

- Walks (BB): Player reaches base via a walk

- Run Batted In (RBI): Player makes a hit that scores a run

- Run (R): Player scores a run

Pitching

- Earned Run (ER): Pitcher allows a player to reach base and that player eventually scores. Players who reach base via an error and score do not count as an earned run

- Earned Run Average (ERA): Average amount of earned runs given up per a full game pitched.

- Start (S): Player begins game at pitcher

- Pitch Count (PC): Number of pitches thrown

- Innings Pitched (IP): Number of innings a player pitches. Once a pitcher starts trying to get the next out, they've pitched 1/3 of an inning

- Strikeout (K): Pitch hits strike zone, batter swings and misses, or batter hits a foul ball

- Walks (BB): Player reaches base via a walk

- Hit (H): Pitcher gives up a hit. Hits do not count if an error is committed

- Single, Double, Triple (1,2,3): Pitcher gives up a single, double or triple

- Home Run (HR): Pitcher gives up a home run

- Win-Loss (W-L): Win - For a player to get the win they must pitch at least the first 3 innings and have the lead at the end of their last inning pitched. If the team wins but the starting pitcher does not meet the criteria to be awarded the win, then the win is awarded to whatever following pitcher was “most effective.” Loss - For a pitcher to receive the loss they must have allowed the go-ahead run to reach base for a lead that the winning team never relinquishes

- Save (SV): Pitcher who subs in with the lead, never gives up the lead, and finishes the game. Team can have a lead of no more than 3. Must have pitched for at least 1 inning, less if tieing run is on base-

- Blown Save (BSV): Pitcher who subs in, blows a lead and their team loses

Fielding

- Attempt (A): Player tries to make a fielding out or stop

- Fielding Out (FO): Player stops a potential base hit

- Stop (S): Fielder stops a base hit from doing more damage

- Error (E): Fielder should have made a fielding out or stop but fails

- Fielding Percentage (FP): Fielding outs plus stops divided by attempts

All games viewable

Instead of only specially labeled "primetime" games being aired on either Twitter or Facebook (as is the case right now) and the rest not available to watch unless at the game in person, next season every game will broadcasted on Twitter. The league's "primetime" game will be specially on Facebook.
